Brief update: Blog name change!
Do not be surprised if your inbox looks a bit different going forward...
Not a proper blog post from me today (no hating on Richard Curtis or Sally Rooney).
Instead, a small update: I am about to start a new job where I will have a bit more of a public profile than I have previously. Slightly more people than usual (5 rather than 0) might be Googling my name, and it’s probably better that they find my LinkedIn rather than my thoughts on the F1 movie.
So to draw a firmer line between corporate life and literary aspirations, I’ve decided to rename this blog. Emails and posts will now come from someone called E. K. Carlisle (it’s an extremely clever anagram).
Feels a bit pompous even writing this update, but thought I should let you know just in case you suddenly got confused by the different sender next time I post and panic—unsubscribed. Still, can’t be worse than when I published my in-depth Doctor Who Series 14 review and lost three of you immediately.
In the interests of improving my ‘brand’ (yuk), I have also set up a dedicated hub for my writing on Instagram, @e.k.carlisle, where I will try to post behind the scenes stuff, updates on this Substack, track progress on my novels that I am constantly writing and failing to publish, and maybe even video content if I can get my hands on one of those silly tiny microphones... Or, you can follow me on the old Twitter/X hellscape, @ekcarlisle, for more random thoughts on all this and more.
In the meantime, I’d just like to thank everyone who likes, comments, subscribes, and engages with my blog posts here. The Sally Rooney post in particular now has over 3.3 thousand views, not very impressive in the grand scheme of things, but given I have done very little to promote this blog publicly, I’m quite proud of that. It’s proof that being a beacon of hate really can build an audience.
Normal content will resume with the next post!
Good luck EK. You should visit Carlisle. Some say it was Camelot.
